Mainstream scholarship derives Moshe from the Egyptian element ms / msj "child, born of", the same element in Thutmose and Ramesses, with the Hebrew connection to mashah "to draw out" in Exodus 2:10 regarded as a narrative folk etymology. No relationship to Shona or any Bantu language is recognised.
